This communion service has run a much larger time frame than I originally anticipated. The family's eyes lay heavy, against hollow and pain stricken cheeks, paving a forefront for their corrosive tears. With my back resting against a solid wood bench, my feet tap dancing nervously upon the church-floor tile and my head thumping an unrelenting pulse through which arose the withdrawn but inevitable flood of tears.
I can't recall the last negative incident in my life not somehow being connected to this town. Through the people, the ideals instilled in me, the ideas I instilled in others and the sometimes detrimental bindings of blood relation laid in me the notion that without this town I am nothing and with this town I can become nothing. Though quite ridiculous when perceived in such wording, when ordered in my mind, the phrasing and comprehension is nothing short of poetic. I have retreated from the South Bay, seeking refuge elsewhere whether it be in neighboring states, southern counties, or simply a few cities north. All my endeavors in departing from LA were not a simple relocation, more so an escape.
We live in one of the most desirable areas in the U.S. and an infamous location known the world over as the mecca for millionaires and celebrities. A place where all your most beloved musicians dwell and movie stars are discovered in a coffee shop. Where a chance encounter with Martin Scorsese will lead to your shitty screenplay being his next big blockbuster. LA is where the droves of naively untalented youth flock toward in belief that their voice, their vision, their spoken or written words will contribute to the next seismic reading in southern California. Their fantasy of super stardom lay deceased along Hollywood Blvd. along with their acting resumes and head shots. It is but a smog-ridden bay engulfing the tampered and high-hoped souls of every joe-schmoe who picked up a microphone. Though the locals understand the likelyhood of becoming famous is quite slim in our eyes, simply dwelling in LA further inflates our egos and belief of being an important person solely based on our residency or nativity as Angelinos.

The last paragraph is powerful in so many ways.
