The wonderful lady above is Lolita Cohen. The 76-years-young Cohen lives in the Great State of Texas, in China Spring just outside of Waco where she runs the Gentle Gentile Day Care Center. A long-time political activist, for the past 48 years she has been the McLennan County GOP precinct captain. She claims to have predicted that George W. Bush would be President long before he ran. "I met him one time at the Bad Bear Liquor Store afore he was governor. Real decent fella. Thirsty, too. He didn't even wait to get to his car before he was pullin' on that bottle of Jim Beam."
Lolita also runs her online business, "Granny Cams!", catering to, in her words, "...a specialized, deeply disturbed audience of people. They're like reverse pedophiles. But they pay real well to see me doin' all kinda kinky shit." She offered to show us her collection of toys she uses to arouse herself for her clientele but we declined. She says the extra money goes to help pay for the care of her son, Bodean, who was rendered incapacited following a moonshine-meets-prom-night accident. She refused to elaborate other than to say, "Bodean never was the sharpest fish in the tree."
Cohen says she found The Bruce Sanborn Band's web site and instantly became a fan. She often emails us suggestions for covers, insisting we need to incorporate more Merle Travis into our repetoire. "That song he done, Divorce Me C.O.D., that there's one helluva song. You'd do it good!" We thank her for her advice.
She also promises to be in the front row if we ever make it to Waco.
